URL Rotator Copy Cat
I have noticed lately that there has been an increase in the number of URL rotators on the market lately. That’s fine, there is nothing wrong with competition.
But, when someone who enter that market as your competition, and then copies significant portions of your sale page – well that is wrong and it is copyright infringement.
I’m not going to give this copy cat a link back, but will give you their domain – prorotator.com. I think for the price, my link rotator is still the best, but I may be a little biased.
So, I’m going to give you some of striking similarities between the two web page, and I’ll let you be the judge.
My web page title:
Link Rotator Script | URL Rotator | Link Hit Counter
Their web page title:
Link Rotator Software | URL Rotator Software | Link Hit Counter …
My headline:
If you are using a link rotator script or link randomizer service, that is not on your own domain or web host…STOP!
Their headline:
Are you using a link rotator service or link randomizer service? If so … STOP! Using a 3rd party service is costing you dearly!
My sub headline:
Have you ever thought about what you are losing by using a third party, url rotator service?
You know the link rotating service is not providing the service just out of the kindness of their heart.
Their sub headline:
Do you know what you are loosing by using a third party url rotator service? You know they are not providing the link rotating service just because they are kind hearted and want to help you!

Some of their benefits:

No More Dead Links:
Co-Op Campaigns:
Track your advertising:
Capitalize on page not found errors
Another one of my benefits:

Another of their benefits, copied almost verbatim:
Natural Looking Links – http://yourdomain.com/links instead of http://yourdomain.com/rotate.php?pid=123
I guess I should be flattered that someone copied a lot of my sales page, I’m not a great copy righter so I didn’t think it was all that great. But, I think I will have to take some action on this.
So, let me know, am I crazy or did this person copy a large amount of my URL rotator sales page?
Let this be a lesson – when you create a product similar to someone else, be original, find your own unique selling proposition and don’t copy other people sales text or selling propositions.
I have contacted the owner of the copying website, we’ll see how they respond. If you visit their site and their sales page has changed, then good for them.
Oh yeah, another lesson – I discovered this by having a Google alert set that notified me of the keywords URL rotator. When I saw that alert come through, I saw the title “Link Rotator Software | URL Rotator Software | Link Hit Counter …” and I thought – that sounds just like my site, but it’s not – red flag!

Yes I was the old sales page, they copied some of your sales text. too bad to hear this issue.. anyway looking forward to your upcoming post.
Yes, we find that true of so much of what we publish on our blogs as well.
We spend days developing material and, within a couple of hours, folks will have copied it and used it as their own.
There are two principles at work here:
First, is the oldest of all management rules, and that is, people will do what they are rewarded for doing, and on the net, people are rewarded for backlinks, and backlinks come as a result of lots of new content, plagiarized or not. So as long as there is no way to stop the copying, and the backlink reward is there, we suspect that it will continue.
Secondly, there are sites that actually tell the authors that after they submit new material, the site receiving the material will go out and sell it for profit.
There are lots of students throughout the land who, instead of writing their own papers, just pay article libraries for content. The authors in those cases get no glory at all. The students use the material as their own, the article library gets paid and the writer has the pleasure of working for free. (In other words, we are training our student population to use others’ work as their own as well.
Dear Administrator: You are invited to come on over to ToysPeriod.com for a backlink. Just leave a comment for one of our articles and we will award your site a nice PR rank 4 Backlink.
Our Comment regarding the article above is as follows:
Again, people will do what they are being rewarded for doing.
In the case of sales copy, if the copy is good, and is much better than anything the person selling the same product as the author of the copy could write, bingo, there goes the copy.
Again, the oldest principle at work in human history.
The story of John Alden, and Cyrano underline the same thing.

thanks for sharing, I agree when you create a product similar to someone else, be original, find your own unique selling proposition and don’t copy other people sales text or selling propositions.
This is very rampant these days. A lot of people simply rewrites the content of a competitor site and makes it their own.
Can we use 301 redirect code for it?
That is one gut-wrenching story.I am quite surprised with your nice article. The great thing is that you never know what kind of response you are going to get. I was going to remember that comment for a while.
Thanks a lot for the information…waiting for your next update…
It’s funny seeing all these copycat type programs popping up that cost 3 times more .
Looks like this one program does more than yours, maybe that’s why it cost more???
Nice post! It is really a very informative post. Well done and keep it up. I hope that you would keep on writing such interesting topics in future as well. I have not used URL rotator but I would surely try it.
Nothing stays original online. Whether you disable right click or protected with copyrights, copycats still exist. Tsk.
Being unique is the key to success, copying someones product doesn’t guarantee that it will work, people are in constant hunt for unique products and services. Everyone what some thing unique and different from others…
Yes this is true on internet nothing remains genuine, there are some people copying content even images often, but i should not be happen what i think, one should create their own materials…
It is so disheartening isn’t it, when someone steals your words. Plagiarism seems to be a huge problem on the internet. All I can suggest (if you have the technical expertise) is to get their ISP address and report them.
If you keep rubbishing them on your website it may well end up harming you more.
while personaly, i believe that you should expect this kind of thing when you first realease the software. however, i hate the copy cat just as much as you do.
URL rotator is a great concept introduced .I liked it the most.
for my its just okay to have lightly significance in link domain as long as the content are unique..competition is on the content the better the content the more will be the traffic…link build to your site to be on top.
You have great insight on this subject. Thanks to you I now see traffic generating in a whole new way.
What do you do when someone copies the text in your web site? There’s absolutely nothing faulty with competition, but when someone new enters your market place and competes with you by stealing the marketing points of one’s sales page, that may be just wrong. What really should I
What do you do when an individual copies the text on your web site? There’s nothing incorrect with competition, but when another person new enters your market and competes with you by stealing the marketing points of one’s sales page, which is just wrong. What ought to I
What do you do when a person copies the text in your website? There is practically nothing faulty with competition, but when another person new enters your marketplace and competes with you by stealing the offering points of the sales page, that is just faulty.
I’m just come across, your blog is charming! I’m joy, hope we can be good friends!
Actually, I don’t think copy other’s article is a bad thing, Internet is a way for information sharing originally, but I can’t stand most people use the way to attract client visit their website that to increse traffice,so they can get money. I think is a plagiarism ,a form of intellectual dishonesty. We need to improve protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
This is awesome. I will try to research more stuff about URL Rotator. Thanks for this!
Great and awesome for that copy cat. I’ll read more stuff about it.
How lame. Stealing content is definitely not kosher.
the oldest of all management rules, and that is, people will do what they are rewarded for doing, and on the net, people are rewarded for backlinks, and backlinks come as a result of lots of new content, plagiarized.
[.....]great title sharing looking very nice[.......]
I quote this word: “If you are using a link rotator script or link randomizer service, that is not on your own domain or web host…STOP!”, the question is, why i must STOP? can you explain more? i’m newbie here
. Thank’s.
How lame. Stealing content material is surely not kosher.
I have a question for you what will you do if some one copies a content from the site and rewrite it with some changes and publish it to the search engine .Any one can comment on this..
This method if I recall correctly is not called directly stealing, it is called rewriting content.
What is the difference you ask? Stealing can be punished as a direct breach of copyrights, whereas rewriting will be much harder to track and prove guilty, especially with similar products. They also do it in a way the ensures text uniquety on their page so crawlers do not pick it up.
Old, cheap tactics that, unfortunately, work.
Ha, interesting! There are a lot of unoriginal people out there, I guess.
It isn’t very nice when people copy your work. I’ve had people copy content from website before and that is annoying!
Is there any way to find or hide the content from others without copying it..
[....] Hi this URL is fully depend on all blog contain all is very nice sharing[.....]
[...] URL Rotator Copy Cat. Thanks for sharing. I like it .
Copycats are my pet hate, but if you look around the web. It is the norm now, I’ve lost count at now many IM products I have purchased that have been rehashed stuff that was around years ago.
I know what you are saying , without giving the game away there is much more they could do to outrank you and you are constantly competing against them for the serp( they are always one above you!) Perhaps a word in the desription?
I have a site that was ripped within a day of being up and all the articles were published on ezine articles, but google hadn’t cached the page yet so they didn’t pick up on it I complained but it didn’t get me anywhere. At least I was second below them for a while and then webmasters ripped those articles and I was relegated to the supplemental pages for my own articles !!!!
What can you do???I rewrote all the articles on my own site.
Don’t make your site a dofollow blog too early I guess!
I have read the comments here. It is a horrid thing when somebody steals your content. But there are some programs that solve that problem. Also there is a big difference between stolen and rewritten content. Stolen is stolen. It was taken and copied. The rewritten text was changed. Only idea was stolen but content is unique. There is no question. My rewritten content and someone’s original one are different things for search engine bots. But the same text on two resources makes a big trouble… search engines make blow your site to the lowest bottom(
Great information, thanks for sharing this. I have been looking for it for a while now and it really helps me out and my website.
Cool post. I think I’ll get the Magic of Making Up!!!!
Incredibly excellent post. I generally like your posts you’re a professional marketer.Thank you.
I know what you might be saying , without giving the game away there’s much a lot more they could do to outrank you and you’re constantly competing against them for the SERP.
it really burns me when others steal my content…there is almost exactly like yours.
There is nothing wrong to have a competitors on the market but the problem is when your competitors stealing the selling points/products on your sales page/website
Thanks for the tips, I’m looking for a URL rotator right now.
The rotator is so needed, Guys.
Keep the likewise and go on.
I appreciate it so much.
What I think its rewriting content not stealing directly. Stealing can be punished as a direct violate of copyrights whereas, rewriting will be much harder to track. They also do it in a way that ensures test uniquely on their page so crawlers do not pick it up. It’s actually Old, despicable tactics Which unfortunately works.
Also there is a big difference between stolen and rewritten content. Stolen is stolen. It was taken and copied.
Wow, I had no idea people actually used those tools for redirecting web traffic. Thanks for sharing.
I can see a similarity and I think they just scramble the sentence but the message is still the same. for some reasons they thought you won’t be able to see them copying you. But it’s a fierce competition and you have establish your product first befire them for you still have the advantage.
